Inspite of that, the Safer Future Technical/vocational Institute has established a computer centre where students at the institute and other young people are trained basic usage of computers and standard office applications. By the Computer Centre the Safer Future Youth Development Project wants to establish a platform for bridging the digital gap and to transfer know-how and experiences nationally and internationally.
The Computer Centre was started in 2006 and by now we are using solar electricity to run it. At the moment there are (6) six computers operating, including the server. We offer training courses as listed below, computerization, printing and scanning service and we support the SFYDP management in administrative work.We charge money for every service in order to be able to finance the upcoming maintaince cost. Because of the space problem, the SFYDP started a building project in 2006 hoping that after completion, the problem of space for the computer centre will be over. The first phase of the building project has been completed but still there is a lot be done.
Pictures of the unfinished building:
As of now, we lack enough space to even hold our equipment as a result of the insufficient room. We are looking forward to work with photocopier and colour printer in the future as it is in high demand from the public.
